Welcome to the 2023 KFic Big Bang! This fest is dedicated to creating fic and art for any and all k-pop groups, and writers and artists will team up to create long fics (25K word minimum) with accompanying artwork.Check out the links below for more information, or find us on another platform.

Can I submit a previously posted fic?
No.Can I sign up with a WIP that I want to finish?
Yes, as long as you haven’t posted any of the fic publicly yet.Can I sign up as a writer and an artist?
Yes! Just make sure to fill out both sign up forms. Can I submit a chaptered fic?
Yes! But all chapters must be completed by the deadline. Can I submit a fic that is a prequel or a sequel to an existing fic?
Yes, so long as the fic can be read on its own without the context of the other fic(s) in the series. All fics must be able to be read as standalone fics. Are fics in this fest anonymous? Can I talk about my fic with my friends?
This is not an anonymous fest! Feel free to talk about your story and brainstorm with friends. Can I collaborate with another writer?
If you and your collaborator sign up together as a team, two writers can work together. Will you be providing betas or sensitivity readers?
No. Participants are responsible for finding betas and/or sensitivity writers on their own if they would like them. However, we can boost beta requests on the fest Twitter. Will participants be able to sign up as pinch hitters?
We will have pinch hitters for artists! When you sign up for the fest as an artist, you will be able to indicate if you will or will not be able to serve as a pinch hitter; if you sign up to be a pinch hitter, that means that you’re volunteering to sub in for an artist who has to drop out of the fest. Note that we will not be having pinch hitters for writers, as pinch hitting a 25K+ word fic isn’t super feasible. What is your dropout policy?
Writers and artists can drop out of the fest with no consequence prior to the deadline when artists claim story summaries. After that deadline, both artists and writers can still drop out — this is a fest, and we know life happens! — but should communicate with the mods directly about it, and avoid it if possible. If a writer drops out and their artist doesn’t, the artist who was making art for their fic will be reassigned to make a second piece of art for another fic; if an artist drops out and their writer doesn’t, a pinch hitter will step in to make art for that fic.Can I make art for more than one fic?
You can sign up to make art for more than one fic! However, we won’t know the exact writer to artist ratio until after artist signups close, and we may end up with multiple artists making art for one fic.Can I write more than one fic?
We ask that you only sign up to write one fic. What counts as art?
Drawings, paintings, edits, gifs, filk, fanvids, and crafts. Do you have another idea that you're not sure counts? Ask us and we’ll probably say yes. What about podfic?
Creating podfic requires the podficcer to work more closely with their author partner, as the author would need to provide a finished (or close to finished) excerpt ahead of the writing deadline to record. We are open to podficcers recording a 5K-10K excerpt of the story as the art component, but some authors live dangerously close to the deadline, so a podfic partnership might not work for every story. However, we love podficcers and we want to include you if you want to join!Have a question not listed here or addressed in the Code of Conduct? Please reach out to the moderators via email ([email protected]) or on Twitter!

This fest is pro-fic, pro-fandom, pro-RPF, and takes an expansive view of what K-pop is. You can write stories or create art about any K-pop group or groups that you want.
This fest is intended for adults only! Please only sign up if you are 18 years of age on or before June 1st, 2023.
This fest has no content restrictions. Authors are welcome to write explicit content and to explore dark or heavy themes or topics in their work. That said, all such content must be thoroughly tagged, and if major archive warnings apply, fics must be marked as such. Additionally, when providing summaries to artists, all potentially triggering content must be mentioned. This is important so that artists and readers can make informed decisions about what content they are comfortable consuming.
All forms of bigotry and discrimination, including but not limited to racism, transphobia, homophobia/queerphobia, xenophobia, ableism, sanism, fatphobia, Judeophobia (anti-semitism), and Islamophobia, against other fest participants will not be tolerated. This is a space where everyone should feel included regardless of identity.
This is a multi-fandom fest! Please don’t put down one group or idol in order to make a point about another group or idol.
Assume good faith on the part of the fest participants and the fest moderators. We want to encourage sharing, learning, and growth from one another and if an opportunity to learn from a mistake presents itself, we encourage both participants and moderators to do so.
Notes for Participants
If your work explores potentially triggering content, please keep in mind the difference between depicting something harmful and condoning it.
Many of the participants in this fest will be neither Asian nor Korean. As white or otherwise non-Asian fans engaging with fanworks based on real Korean people, we should ensure that we approach both fic and art with a high level of care and thoughtfulness. We ask that participants in this fest create work that reflects this level of awareness and we ask that participants keep in mind that each and every K-pop idol is inseparable from Korean culture in some way, shape, or form. We will link to resources to help participants research living in Korean culture for anyone who might want them.
